(KCPW News) It took several months, but the U.S. Senate confirmed Scott Matheson, Jr., to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in the final hours of the lame-duck session today.
Matheson was nominated to the judgeship by President Obama in March. His nomination was then unanimously approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee in June.
He had the strong backing of Utah Senator Orrin Hatch, who issued a statement today saying he’s gratified Matheson was confirmed.
Matheson formerly served as U.S. Attorney for Utah and was dean of the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law.
