Dr. Roxane Farmanfarmaian, visiting scholar at the University of Utah’s Middle East Center, presented Dangerous Passions: Legacies of America’s Hostage Crisis with Iran at the Salt Lake City Main Library on January 20, 2011.
Farmanfarmaian describes the legacy of this emotional conflict as an increasingly dangerous one – in which rhetoric can easily deteriorate into violence, and a new and even more fatal war may erupt, embroiling the US again in the Middle East.
The evening also featured an excerpt of The Persian Quarter, a play written by Kathleen Cahill, performed by the Salt Lake Acting Company.
