(KCPW News) Republican Representative Paul Ray’s anti-nicotine bill didn’t get very far this year, but he’s already planning a similar campaign for the year ahead, including new legislation targeting electronic cigarettes. One lobbyist, though, says his efforts are misguided. KCPW’s Whittney Evans reports.

Representative Ray has no idea what he is talking about. Who is he referring to when he says “they” are lying? People who use e-cigarettes? Why would they want to get kids to use e-cigs? He is the liar. I am a former smoker who has switched to a reduced-harm alternative. I don’t want kids to start using these. I would have nothing to gain by encouraging children to do that.
You will find far more e-cigarette users than retailers saying that having pleasant flavors helps to switch from smoking to using vapor. Most e-cigarette kits I’ve seen come with tobacco-flavored cartridges. You’d think if retailers wanted to get kids hooked, they’d start them out with fruit-flavored cartridges. But they don’t.

They said, “Second hand mist from an e-cigarette is not smoke at all, and does not contain any substance known to cause death, short or long term, in the quantities found. It becomes invisible within a few seconds, and is not detectable by smell… Exhaled breath after e-smoking contains even less nicotine per puff, as much of the nicotine inhaled is absorbed. Nicotine is not harmful in the quantities mentioned.”
Representative Ray apparently hates smokers, and thinks they should all receive a death sentence if they don’t play by his rules.
Rep. Ray is being ridiculous. It is none of his business what other citizens of this country do, especially if it is legal. And even if he wants to protect other citizens from second-hand smoke, what does that have to do with e-cigarettes, which have no smoke, but only a water vapor? People in this country are so tired of politicians acting like “lifestyle police.”
