(KCPW News) Downtown Salt Lake City will start filling up on Thursday nights this summer as the 2011 Twilight Concert Series returns to Pioneer Park for a second time. Ten artists have been announced for seven dates throughout the summer. Concert Director Casey Jarman announced the concert line up yesterday, and said the first show will be July 14th.

“Pioneer Park as the new home for the Twilight Concert series is in many ways a work in progress, it’s something that’s developed and we’re trying to find which is the right fit and what’s the best way to go on this, who are the best bands. I do think last year was a great success and I think this year is going to be really exciting as well,” he said.

This year’s artists include: The Decemberists, Kurt Vile, Bright Eyes and Ghostland Observatory, with more to be added soon. Jarman says he believes the series helps bring new life to downtown.

“We are really, really positive and excited about Pioneer Park,” he said. “It is, I think, a great great beginning for that area, a great home of the Twilight concert series.”

Jarman says the biggest challenge of the series is funding, but this year, as always, it will be free and open to everyone.
