(KCPW News) A Utah Transit Authority spokesperson says the organization is examining ways to make its TRAX lines safer following another pedestrian fatality this morning in West Valley. Gerry Carpenter says TRAX ridership is up 30 percent since August, which means more opportunities for people and automobiles to interact with trains.
“One our biggest concerns is distracted pedestrians,” says Carpenter. “It seems like more and more people are wearing headphones, or walking and texting, or not paying attention to their surroundings, and we’re seeing as spike in pedestrian accidents in general. Not just related to trains, but also related to automobiles.”
A bicyclist died when he was swept under a train this morning at an intersection near 2770 South and Redwood Road. Carpenter says it was the 11th incident involving TRAX this year, the seventh involving a pedestrian, and the fifth fatality.

Tex ting and using mobile phones while driving or walking is one of the key issue that can cause the disaster.It must be evaluated by some mean of wake up events and techniques.
