(KCPW News) It was a hard-fought campaign, but in the end the election wasn’t even close Tuesday night in Salt Lake City Council District Six on the city’s east side.
Challenger Charlie Luke walked away with 61 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results, and will replace incumbent J.T. Martin, who served one four-year term.
On the west side in District Two, 12-year incumbent Van Turner also fell to opponent Kyle LaMalfa, who had a strong showing with 57 percent.
To no one’s surprise, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker handily captured a second term Tuesday with three-quarters of the vote, along with District Four Councilman Luke Garrott with 77 percent, both of whom faced little-known challengers.
