A Democratic state lawmaker is targeting payday lenders with a bill that aims to outlaw their ability to choose where to take borrowers who default on their loans to court. A statement later sent from Utah Consumer Lending Association spokesperson Wendy Gibson, who is also District Manager for Check City, says the company hopes to meet with McAdams very soon to discuss his legislation. It adds that Check City has responded to customers’ concerns by changing the location of its court hearings to a more local venue.
