(KCPW News) The new leader in charge of Utah’s 43 state parks and museums is taking on his role at a challenging time. After serving as interim director of the Utah State Parks and Recreation Division for the past four months, Fred Hayes was named Tuesday as its new permanent director, following a nationwide search. What does the future hold for Utah’s state parks system, following severe budget cuts in recent years? KCPW’s Jeff Robinson spoke with Hayes about he first got involved with state parks 30 years ago.
