Nevada GOP Chair Says Wimmer Not Offered Job

On Monday, former State Representative Carl Wimmer said he’d accepted a job offer to be political director of the Nevada Republican Party. But now, the head of that party says the offer was never made.

(KCPW News) On Monday, former State Representative Carl Wimmer said he’d accepted a job offer to be political director of the Nevada Republican Party. But now, the head of that party says the offer was never made.

Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald told the Las Vegas Review-Journal Tuesday that he’s never even spoken to Wimmer, adding “I think we have several people in Nevada capable of doing the job.”

He blamed a breakdown in communications that led to Wimmer announcing he’d accepted the post.

Wimmer, who was traveling to Las Vegas last night, told the newspaper he still hopes to join the Nevada Republican Party, possibly as its finance director.
