(KCPW News) Utah Governor Gary Herbert today approved the appointment of Salvador Petilos as the new Executive Director of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Petilos has worked for the state for 16 years and had been serving as the deputy director of the Department of Administrative Services. In his new position he’s been challenged with guiding an agency that has experienced allegations of mismanagement and corruption recent months, forcing former director Dennis Kellen to resign last fall.
Francine Giani, who had been serving as interim director, will resume her position as executive director of the Department of Commerce.
Petilos’ appointment is still subject to approval by the Utah Senate.
