(KCPW News) Recreating along the Jordan River Parkway Trail will be easier now that a map of the trail has been made available. The map, highlighting trailheads, public transit areas, dog parks and golf courses, was released today. Marcy DeMillion with the National Park Service says she thinks the new map will get more people using the trail.
“It highlights various recreational opportunities, access to the trail as well as increases the opportunity for physical activity on the trail. It also highlights transit opportunities, direct connections from the Jordan River Trail to UTA,” says DeMillion.
Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon says the map has been a long time coming. A federal grant helped pay for the cost of the map, along with help from the Jordan River Commission.
“It was important for us to get this map done because it is the number one requested map from our citizens. They want to know what is open along the Jordan River, how to get to trailheads,” says Corroon. “So, we were finally able to work with the National Park Service and get it done.
Maps can be picked up at recreation centers in Salt Lake County.
