(KCPW News) Republican State Representative Kraig Powell of Heber City might not be one of the most well-known lawmakers in the Utah Legislature. But he got his turn in the spotlight after he said publicly that he was pressured into voting for a controversial overhaul of Utah’s open records law, HB 477, which was later repealed. This year, Powell pushed an effort to open up lawmakers caucus meetings to the public. We talked about that and what else he hopes to do with another term in office.
Then, Christopher Stout says the Utah Constitution is in crisis when it comes to the state treasury. The accountant is the Democratic candidate for Treasurer this election year. We asked why he’s concerned about the state’s debt load.
