UDOT Opens All Lanes of I-15 Core Project

Commuters got the green light from UDOT yesterday to begin using all lanes of the I-15 Core.

(KCPW News)  Commuters got the green light from UDOT yesterday to begin using all lanes of the I-15 Core. Spokesman Leigh Dethman says the 24-mile I-15 project includes two additional lanes on I-15 in Utah County from Lehi to Spanish Fork, but the work isn’t over yet.

“We still have a lot of work left to do, but we are planning on doing that work at night. It is kind of like the finishing touches we have to do some of the painting and the striping and the fencing, but as much as possible we’re going to do those at night so we can keep the lanes open during those busy commute times,” says Dethman.

The project is scheduled for completion in December.  Construction began in the spring of 2010, making it the fastest billion-dollar public highway project ever built in the U.S.
