Love Concedes Congressional Race to Matheson

(KCPW News)  Despite recent polls showing her as the favorite, Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love conceded her race for the seat in Utah’s new 4th Congressional District to incumbent Congressman Jim Matheson early this morning.  Early results show Matheson topping love by just over 2,800 votes, yet Love says she doesn’t walk away from the campaign empty handed.

“I take away something very special from this.  I take away thousands of friends that I didn’t have before, that I will always have.  I love this state.  I love this country.  And I’m just proud to be a Utahn, and proud to be an American,” said Love during her concession speech.

Love’s campaign was buoyed by her prime-time speaking slot at the Republican National Convention and from endorsements and fundraising help from several high-profile Republicans like Senator John McCain of Arizona and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
