Hate crimes bill stalls, Utah lawmakers avoid climate change declarations, Mike Noel’s land is scrutinized

Play

The latest attempt to increase penalties for hate crimes dies without getting a hearing in the Legislature. Although science points to the burning of fossil fuels as a driver of climate change, Utah lawmakers are wary to acknowledge human culpability. And a Montana conservation group says Rep. At 9 a.m. Friday, Salt Lake Tribune reporters Emma Penrod and Brian Maffly, government and politics editor Dan Harrie, and editorial page editor George Pyle join KCPW’s Roger McDonough to talk about the week’s top stories.

Each Friday morning, stream “Behind the Headlines” online at kcpw.org or tune in to KCPW 88.3 FM or Utah Public Radio for the broadcast.
