The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: January 28, 2015) – Salt Lake City’s Housing First program to manage homelessness has received national recognition recently. In fact, Utah has lead the nation in reducing chronic homelessness – which is defined as long-term or repeated homelessness. Recently advocates and service providers working on homeless issues for Utah spoke at the University of Utah. The speakers include: Mike Minkevitch, Executive Director of the Road Home in downtown Salt Lake City; Pamela Atkinson, longtime advocate for the homeless and refugees in Utah; Elizabeth Buhler, the Homeless Services Coordinator for SLC; Tamera Kohler, Director of State Community Services office; and Joseph Hardy, a former homeless client of the Road Home.
