Salt Lake City Looks to Change Pet Ordinance

More pets may soon be living in Salt Lake City homes. In a discussion last night, the Salt Lake City Council proposed dropping their current two-dog and two-cat per household ordinance and implementing new licensing rules. KCPW’s Jessica Gail explains what the change could mean for shelters and how soon it could be implemented.

Opening Set for Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum of Utah has announced it will welcome patrons into its new home in early winter. The Rio Tinto Center will open to the public on Friday, November 18th, housing 1.2 million objects from around the state and region. Equine Center Desperately Seeking Adoptions

The Utah Animal Adoption Center in Salt Lake City is losing a significant part of its operation because of the lagging economy. Adoptions have been few and far between at its equine facility, where horses are rescued and cared for while they await adoption. SL County Changes Breeding Ordinance

After some dog breeders vented their frustration with a new Salt Lake County ordinance aimed at irresponsible breeding, the county council voted to change the regulations this week. The ordinance initially passed in December required breeders to pay for a license each year with no exemptions.

Downtown Salt Lake City was clearing out Monday after this weekend’s largest ever Outdoor Retailer Winter Market at the Salt Palace. 18,000 manufacturers and store buyers gathered to look at innovative products, many of which will be out in stores by next winter. And as KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports, some of this year’s most successful booths at the expo…were those reaching out to a four-legged demographic.
