Restaurant Owner Aims to Clean up Gum,Trash From City Streets

A stray piece of trash, a cigarette butt or an old piece of gum on the sidewalk are all commonplace in urban areas, and there’s no exception in Salt Lake City. But one downtown business owner is set on changing that, and as KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports, he’s already gone to work cleaning up the city one block at a time.

29,000 Jobs Added in Past Year, Unemployment Rate Flat

Utah’s unemployment rate stayed flat at 6 percent in May, according to the latest numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But nearly 29,000 jobs have been added in the state over the past year. Mark Knold, Chief Economist for the Utah Department of Workforce Services, says that puts the Beehive State in the top 8 percent of job growth in the country.
