Political Cornflakes: Huntsman Supports Same-Sex Marriage

Former Utah Governor and Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman is now also a supporter of same sex marriage. Huntsman made that announcement Thursday in an op-ed in ‘The American Conservative,’ and urged his conservative counterparts to do the same. So what does the announcement mean for Huntsman? Davis School District Going to Court Over Library Book

The American Civil Liberties Union of Utah is taking the Davis School District to court over a library book. The ACLU filed the suit on behalf of a Kaysville parent who says her children’s rights were violated when the school district decided to remove a book about lesbian mothers from the shelves of their elementary school’s library. Former Governor Huntsman Continues to Champion LGBT Equality

Nearly three and a half years ago, former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced his support for same-sex civil unions shortly before leaving office. Last night, he and his wife, Mary Kaye, were honored by Equality Utah at the Salt Palace, and as KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports, he continues to be a spokesman for equality under the law.

Survey Shows More Needs to be Done for LGBT Youth in Utah

The number of homeless youth who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender in Utah is on the rise. Gay Presidential Candidate to Appear on Utah Ballot

Five Republican presidential candidates will appear on the ballot during Utah’s primary election later this month, one of them, the nation’s first openly gay presidential candidate from a major party. Fred Karger kicked off his Utah primary campaign in Salt Lake City Friday, saying although he knows Mitt Romney has secured the nomination, he still has an important message he wants to be heard.

Utah Pride Center Moving to Downtown Salt Lake City

Utah’s LGBT community will soon have a larger presence in downtown Salt Lake City. Valerie Larabee, Executive Director of the Utah Pride Center, says the center is planning to move from the Marmalade district into a 16,000-square foot building on 400 South and 300 East next spring.

Hundreds of Mormons Walk in PRIDE Parade

Hundreds of members from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints gathered with members of Utah’s LGBT community over the weekend to build bridges between the frequently conflicting groups.
