Behind the Headlines

John Swallow, alcohol legislation and Bears Ears (3/3/17)

Play

After four weeks of testimony, the jury deliberates the trial of former Utah Attorney General John Swallow. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, calls for U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself in an investigation of Russia’s election meddling. A plan calling for Utah to preserve one-half of 1 percent of Bears Ears National Monument advances at the Legislature. And two different pieces of alcohol legislation raise some eyebrows on Capitol Hill.

On Friday at 9 a.m., Salt Lake Tribune reporter Jennifer Dobner, Washington Bureau Chief Thomas Burr, columnist Robert Gehrke and Senior Managing Editor Matt Canham join KCPW’s Roger McDonough to talk about the week’s top stories.

Each Friday morning, stream “Behind the Headlines” on KCPW.org or tune in to KCPW or Utah Public Radio for the broadcast.
