Wild & Scenic Film Festival Hosted by Summit Land Conservancy @ Jim Santy Auditorium
Apr 24 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Wild & Scenic Film Festival Hosted by Summit Land Conservancy @ Jim Santy Auditorium

SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a call to action! The films illustrate not only the challenges facing our planet but the work communities are doing to protect the environment and the places we love. The stories give us a sense of place and what it means to be responsible stewards of the earth.

Summit Land Conservancy has selected 13 environmental and adventure films ranging from 2 minutes to 27 minutes in length for this year’s festival. From a story about a boy catching his first fish to a visual poem about the joy of air, from a recreation of a legendary 1906 expedition to a profile on a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, from a hilarious, tongue-in-cheek examination of the plastic bag problem to a visually stunning exploration of a river that has not kissed the ocean in years, these 13 films will inspire, educate and challenge you and, quite possibly, change your world.

Arrive early to sign up to win fabulous door prizes. Tickets available online or at the door: $10 adults, $5 students. Proceeds to benefit the Summit Land Conservancy.

What is The Stable Place?

The Stable Place is a not for profit equine rescue and rehabilitation facility, with a mission to rescue and rehabilitate horses through service to the community, thereby benefiting horses and humans alike who have both come from disadvantaged circumstances.

This unique program, centered on the combined mission of equine rescue and community service, enriches lives through the mutually empowering relationship between humans and horses, The Stable Place offers adult and child residents of the Salt Lake Valley an accessible and affordable way to establish that special bond, allowing people with modest means a chance to ride, learn about and care for horses, while giving more horses a future, a value, a job and a home. Additionally, The Stable Place offers its resources and expertise to various programs for special needs populations, thereby benefiting horses and humans alike, both having come from less than ideal circumstances. In all of its services, the goal remains that through lessons and experiences with these rehabilitated horses, participants learn not only about the horses, but also about themselves: about confidence, leadership skills, respect, boundaries and self esteem.

Come on out, invite your friends and family and let’s help The Stable Place continue this beautiful work!
