Los Hermanos de Los Andes Concert @ Utah Cultural Celebration Center

Close your eyes and let your imagination transport you to the highlands of the Andes Mountains. Imagine the sound of haunting winds and the chill that pierces your soul. These sensations were captured by the ancient Incans in their music. Today you can experience these enchanting traditional melodies performed by Los Hermanos de los Andes. Using the modern guitar and native instruments including the charango (10-string instrument made from an armadillo back), quena (notched bamboo flute), wank’ara (goat skin bass drum), and many others, Los Hermanos de los Andes entice listeners to soar with the condor to the highest summits of the Andes.

Los Hermanos de Los Andes is an Andean folk music ensemble whose purpose is to preserve and share their rich and unique musical heritage. As a group, Los Hermanos de Los Andes believe culture plays an important role in their lives. Because they also believe its beautiful power can cause great and positive impact in people’s lives, they strive to educate by sharing their heritage and bringing people of all races together.

The Mundi Project Piano Ambassadors Present “Sunset Sounds in the Valley”

Founded in 2006, The Mundi Project provides open access to pianos and innovative performance opportunities that incorporate all the arts. Their focus is on, but not limited to, the piano. Unique to the Salt Lake area, the Mundi Project provides a strong commitment to multidisciplinary arts outreach through concerts and workshops for the community.

Tonight’s performers are part of the Mundi Project Piano Ambassador program with special guests from the Gifted School, BYU and the Manhattan School of Music. These young artists range from the ages of 8-26. You will hear a magnificent variety of music from the Baroque era through the 20th century. Accompanying the music are visual images created by youth from Mundi Project visual art workshops. This program is made possible by the generous support of Zoo, Arts, and Parks, the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, and individuals like you. We hope you enjoy this evening’s multimedia fusion piano concert.

Aug 1 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

University of Utah Professional Education
PROED 531 Bridging the Gap between Finance and Fundraising

This course focuses on the benefits of the Finance and Development departments working together in a non-profit world. Both departments are critical to the financial viability of the organization, yet they view the revenue generated from grants and donor contributions quite differently. How many times have you scratched your head when comparing your agency’s financials to the fundraising reports or been asked by a board member to explain the difference? This course offers the answers. It will provide proactive tips in structuring grants and donor requests to ease the cumbersome back office reporting, as well as how to craft a meaningful budget. Recommended for Development, Finance, and Executive Directors, this course will allow participants to share experiences and learn from best practices.
