What is a logic model? This tool captures a program in a graphic format, clarifying activities and outcomes and communicating the anticipated results to the funder. Many federal, state, and foundation grants request applicants to submit a logic model as a part of a grant application. Building on principles from Grant Writing I, you will develop a complete logic model for your program that will support both your grant writing and grant implementation efforts.

Wednesday, 08/14/13, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm,
Saturday, 08/17/13, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Utah offers an array of excellent rivers for fly fishing. This class is a chance to get out and try the sport in a beautiful high mountain setting. Designed for the novice, this basic hands-on course explores the art and mechanics of fly fishing, including equipment, safety, knots, entomology, and, of course, casting. We will learn some basics in the classroom then travel to a local river for the day to test our new skills.

You are responsible for providing your rod and reel (can be rented at local fly shops), fishing license, sack lunch, sunglasses (essential for eye protection), and either waders and boots or clothes and shoes that can get wet. A selection of flies and other tackle will be provided for our river day.

This class is limited to 10. To register or for more information, call 801-587-LIFE (5433) or visit lifelong.utah.edu.

We’ll begin to learn this important distinction in class, where we will discuss the basics of mushroom hunting, which mushrooms in Utah and surrounding states are edible, and of course, cooking with mushrooms. Our field trip will take us to the Uinta mountains, where we will hunt for boletus edulis (porcini), chanterelle, agaricus campestris (button), and morels. Field trip transportation is by carpool.
