Repertory Dance Theatre presents LEGACY, October 3-5 at 7:30 pm at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. This stirring concert features José Limón’s modern dance masterpiece, “Missa Brevis” — a tribute to cities destroyed during World War II and to those unconquerable qualities in human beings that compel the spirit to rise in hope and to survive. Choreography features 22 dancers including RDT and guests from BYU and UVU who will perform to a powerful score by Zoltan Kodaly. Also on the concert are works by Doris Humphrey, Ted Shawn, Bill Evans, and Ze’eva Cohen — all legacies in the history of modern dance and of RDT. Tickets are $30 in advance ($15 for students & seniors). More information at www.rdtutah.org.

Artist Performance: Shigeyuki Kihara @ Utah Museum of Fine Arts

“salt 8″ featured artist Shigeyuki Kihara will perform her iconic solo dance, which draws on the classical Samoan taualuga to retell the cultural legacy of colonialism in Samoa from an indigenous perspective. Kihara is a prominent artist born in Samoa and based in New Zealand; her work investigates the complexities of cultural identity, colonialism, representation, gender roles, and spirituality through performance, photography, and video. Kihara’s work is featured in the salt gallery, as well as inserted into the UMFA’s Pacific Island galleries in the Dolores Doré Eccles and Frank Sanguinetti Exhibition Wing—a photographic intervention meant to stimulate dialogue among the objects.

Westminster Presents a Theatrical Production of “And Then There Were None” @ Westminster College
Oct 24 @ 7:30 pm – Oct 26 @ 9:30 pm
Westminster Presents a Theatrical Production of “And Then There Were None” @ Westminster College

In this superlative mystery comedy, statuettes of little soldier boys on the mantel of a house on an island off the coast of Devon fall to the floor and break one by one as ten guilty strangers succumb to a diabolical avenger. One by one they are accused of murder; one by one they start to die. A nursery rhyme tells how each of the ten “soldiers” met his death until there were none. Eight guests who have never met each other or their apparently absent host and hostess are lured to the island and, along with the two house servants, marooned. A mysterious voice accuses each of having gotten away with murder and then one drops dead—poisoned. One down and nine to go! The excitement never lets up in this ideal play for schools, colleges and community theatres.

The production will show October 17 – 19 and 24 – 26.

General admission is $10.00
