Our Community Calendar is a resource we offer to all qualified nonprofits. Community Calendar airs throughout the day on KCPW. Featured events are chosen at random. You will also find all current Community Calendar events listed here.

To submit an event to the Community Calendar, the event must meet the following criteria:

  • The event must take place in Utah.
  • The organization promoting the event  must be a qualified 501 (c) (3) charity or political subdivision.
  • The event cannot promote a religious organization or individual.

If your event meets these criteria, click Post Your Event below. Include your contact information in case we have any questions. Otherwise, your event may not get published.

KCPW would like to encourage you to make the most of your post with a featured image and links to your organization.

“SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL FOR KIDS & ADULTS WITH SHORT ATTENTION SPANS” OPENS AT UTAH CHILDREN’S THEATRE.

South Salt Lake, UT, June 27, 2013 – Utah Children’s Theatre begins it’s 2nd annual Shakespeare Festival for kids & adults with short attention spans with classes and performances.

Classes including acting, stage combat, design and more. Performances are August 9th – 24th. Adults perform for kids with The Tempest and Breakfast With Shakespeare ( 4 short tragedies in one play. Ticket includes a pasty and drink). Youthstage (performers ages 20yrs and lower) will perform Much Ado About Nothing. A FREE 15 minute Green Show will play every performance day. Other events include Backstage Tours and pre show synopsis.

Families will have a great experience together understanding more about William Shakespeare’s plays through live performances and events. Using Shakespeare’s words, we trim, clarify and explain his stories in a way that will entertain everyone. Make an unforgettable summer by getting your Festival Bundles to attend all events! General admission tickets range from $7 – $12. Festival Discount Bundles are available as well as groups and new season members. Utah Children’s Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has operated in Utah since 1985, located now in the newly, beautifully remodeled theatre at 3605 S. State Street. Utah Children’s Theatre’s mission is to inspire children to cultivate creativity through the theatrical arts, and produces 3 programs: Public Performances, Acting School, and Field Trip/School performances throughout the year to achieve these goals.

Happy Valley Derby Darlins’ Molly Morbids return to the Derby Depot to take on the defending champions, Wasatch Roller Derby’s Bonneville Bone Crushers. These two teams faced off earlier in the season with the victory to the Bone Crushers. The Molly Morbids will not want this to happen again and will fight hard to try and take the win.

Kids 5 & under get in for FREE!!
All ages welcome

If you like wolves, running, or walking in a beautiful mountain setting, this event is for you!

Choose between a 5K Run or 1.5 mile Walk for the Wolves. Proceeds benefit the campaign to allow wolves to return to Utah. Register by August 14 to receive a Run for the Wolves custom-designed t-shirt.

Children receive a small wolf toy. Umpqua, the almost-wolf ambassador, will be there to greet participants.

Grandmother Mona Polacca, a member of the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers and a of various UN committees, will lead a discussion on how we can be involved in water conservation solutions and indigenous wisdom. Local organizations will also be present to discuss how we can support our local community’s conservation projects.

 

Light snacks and beverages will be provided after the film while attendants enjoy the information tables and live music.
All proceeds go to the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. Brought together by a common vision of peace, thirteen tribal elders, all grandmothers from across the globe, travel to eight different countries to share one powerful message of hope. Five years in the making and shot on location from the remote villages of the Amazon to the steps of the Vatican, this film follows these amazing women as they face a world in crisis.

Want to up your performance while reducing your chance of injury? In this class you will learn the fundamentals of correct running form; suitable for any distance. Appropriate for those who wish to run in shoes, in five-toed shoes, or barefoot; it is your form, not your footwear, that determines whether your running is efficient and balanced or not. Please come prepared to run the first day of class; we will gather in a classroom, then head directly outdoors.
