To submit an event to the Community Calendar, the event must meet the following criteria:
- The event must take place in Utah.
- The organization promoting the event must be a qualified 501 (c) (3) charity or political subdivision.
- The event cannot promote a religious organization or individual.

The Salt Lake Children’s Choir, Ralph B. Woodward, Artistic Director is now scheduling auditions for young musicians ages 8 through 15. The choir performs in the areas major concert settings and will be seen on PBS this year.
Do not miss your chance to have your child audition for the Salt Lake Children’s Choir. Members of the choir learn great music from all ages, develop musical skills such as singing harmony parts and will form friendships which can last a lifetime.

Delicate, yet hearty and palette pleasing, mushrooms add texture and flavor to a variety of cuisines and dishes. But which of the thousands of species of mushrooms is edible, and which will kill you? We’ll begin to learn this important distinction in class, where we will discuss the basics of mushroom hunting, which mushrooms in Utah and surrounding states are edible, and of course, cooking with mushrooms. Our field trip will take us to the Uinta mountains, where we will hunt for boletus edulis (porcini), chanterelle, agaricus campestris (button), and morels. Field trip transportation is by carpool. The Westminster Chamber Orchestra is holding auditions for Fall Semester 2013 on Wednesday, August 21 at 6:00 PM in the Jewett Center for Performing Arts on Westminster College campus. We have openings this semester on French horn, flute, oboe, bassoon, and all string instruments. Porchfest Salt Lake- Saturday, August 24th from 1 to 10 p.m., porches become stages; gardens become art galleries; and over 100 local musicians and artists share their talents with whoever passes by.
The free annual event happens in the picturesque East Central neighborhood just west of the University of Utah (1200 East between 200 and 400 South, plus Reservoir Park).
Bring a picnic or enjoy delicious food options available from the University Garden Business District.
Join the Humane Society of Utah for The Whole Enchihuahua – a movie on our lawn and Mexican food on site! We will have Mexican food available from 5:00 pm, and at sundown (around 8:30 pm) we will be screening “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.” Bring out your lawn chairs and blankets (no coolers, please) and your dog-friendly canines on leash to enjoy the movie with the Humane Society of Utah.
