Utah hasn’t seen the same levels of the novel coronavirus experienced in some hotspots around the country. That’s likely because of the measures government and health officials have implemented to try to slow the spread of COVID-19, and because we haven’t hit our projected peak case count – yet.

But some communities in the U.S. have seen significant case numbers and fatalities from the virus. Among them, the New York City metropolitan area, where more than 19,000 people have died with coronavirus.

A medical crisis response team from Utah’s Intermountain Healthcare is in New York providing assistance to overburdened hospitals there during the outbreak. One of the members of the Utah team, Dr. RJ Bunnell, is documenting his experience in the form of an audio journal, recording what it’s like on the front lines of COVID-19.
