Utah High Court Allows Lt. Gov to Postpone Treasurer's Race Decision

The Utah Supreme Court ruled Friday Lieutenant Governor Gary Herbert can postpone announcing until after the primary whether he'll ask the Attorney General's office to launch a special investigation of state treasurer candidate Mark Walker. During the hearing, Assistant Attorney General Thom Roberts argues that Herbert's decision could influence the outcome of the election.

Utah Senators Make Case for Special Legislative Session

Two Utah senators joined local elected officials to meet with Governor Jon Huntsman on Wednesday to make their case for a special session, which lawmakers would use to study the controversial Jordan School District Split. Given the new boundaries, Senator Michael Waddoups presented the governor with data showing that the new East side district would be able to lower property taxes under the proposal, while forcing the remaining West side to raise taxes.

Indian Community Wants New Cultural Center

Utah's Indian population, now estimated at more than 5,000 families, continues to grow. Now, the Indian community wants to expand its reach by building a new cultural center next to the Sri Ganesha Temple in South Jordan.

UDOH Urges Summer Safety with Kids and Cars

With the recent death of a five-month-old Clearfield infant whose mother left him in a sweltering vehicle, the Utah Department of Health is urging people to take measures to keep their kids safe around cars this summer.

Even though Clark didn't directly criticize McCain's military service, his comments drew a rare rebuke from both campaigns.
