Social service advocates gathered at the Utah Capitol’s dumpster Tuesday, hoping to send the message to lawmakers that there are no disposable members of society. The group held signs and handwritten letters protesting expected cuts to health and human services.

Study Puts Monetary Value on Utah’s Quality of Life

A new report puts a dollar value on the factors that affect quality of life in Utah, and how they’ve changed over time. It’s called the Genuine Progress Indicator. University of Utah economics professor Gunseli Berik, co-author of the report, says 22 factors were taken into consideration to reach the findings.

Sheldon Killpack Pleads Guilty to DUI

A year after former Utah Senate Majority Leader Sheldon Killpack was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, he pleaded guilty Wednesday to a class B misdemeanor. Paul Parker with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office says he was awarded no special treatment.
