Segment 1:

From child welfare to truancy to how the criminal justice system handles prostitution, social work intersects with the law in many ways. And it’s these intersections that intrigue Dr. Corey Shdaimah. She wonders how practitioners and the people who are the target of policies respond to programs they view as unjust or ineffective. On Thursday, Shdaimah joins us to talk about social work as a profession of social justice and putting those values into practice.

Guests:

  • Dr. Corey Shdaimah, University of Maryland

Dr. Corey Shdaimah delivers the lecture “Story-ing the Social Justice Profession: Tales from the Field” on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at University of Utah College of Social Work, 395 S. 1500 East, Salt Lake City. More information at (801) 581-8455.

On Thursday, Holt joins us to talk about the role architecture, interactivity, and astronomy figure into her work.

Guest:

  • Nancy Holt
