Welcome back for day 5 of Daily Buzz’s coverage of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival at Park City, Utah with our host John Wildman and co-hosts Kim Voynar and Irene Cho. We start today’s podcast with a hot topics disucssion with Emily Best(SEED AND SPARK), Holly Herrick (AUSTIN FILM SOCIETY), Jim Brunzell (HAMMER AND NAIL), Ula Sniegowska (AFF POLAND), Ira Deutchman (COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY), Tomris Laffly(FILM JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL). We then talk to Jose Maria Cabral, the director of of CARPINTEROS (WOODPECKERS), about the secret language of Dominican prisons. Director Stefan Avalos, and Danny Houck, his subject in the Slamdance documentary selection STRAD STYLE, join us to chat about making violins in the middle of rural Ohio. We then chat with some amazing creators of VR and AR experiences, Melissa Painter (HEROES) and KC Austin (HUE), about creating art in virtual and augmented reality. Finally we chat with director Jun Geng about his film FREE AND EASY, as well as his thoughts and inspirations as a filmmaker from China.
