The Salt Lake Tribune’s application to become the first legacy newspaper in the U.S. to become a nonprofit organization has been approved. The paper announced this week that they received a letter from the IRS in late October confirming the Tribune’s status as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. As a follow-up to previous coverage, today In the Hive examines where the paper goes from here, and what the announcement means for the future of journalism – in Utah and around the country.

Guests:
Jennifer Napier-Pearce, editor of The Salt Lake Tribune
Joshua Benton, director of the Neiman Journalism Lab
