Today on In the Hive, a local spotlight on a topic that has gained widespread national attention during this season of protest: defunding the police. Various residents who testified (remotely) during Tuesday’s Salt Lake City Council Meeting said they were in favor of the idea. We’ll hear some of their voices, as well as the response of the city’s police chief – who says a new model of enforcement may be a good idea but that funding cuts proposed by activists would hamper public safety. Plus, the chair of the city council on the plans for reexamining policing in the wake of protests.
