Today on “In the Hive” we speak with Tom Hudachko, spokesman for the Utah Department of Health, about the state’s multi-phase plan for immunizing its residents against COVID-19. So far, Utah has given the first dose of the two-dose vaccine to a number of frontline healthcare workers and has begun the work of immunizing staff and residents of long-term care facilities. Next, Utah teachers and educational staff are in line to receive a jab, followed by people aged 75 years or older. And then? Utah will prioritize vaccinations based on age until as many residents as possible are immunized against the pandemic coronavirus.

Vaccines are currently available to healthcare workers, long-term care facility staff and residents, first responders, and K-12 teachers and school staff, and will shortly be available to Utahns age 70 or older. Those who are eligible can contact their local health department to schedule a vaccination.
