(KCPW News) Residents from two Cedar Hills voting districts intend to file a lawsuit against the Utah Republican Party, the Utah County Republican Party, and the state because their elected delegates won’t likely be allowed a vote to fill the vacancy in District 57.
The vacancy was created when former Utah County Representative Craig Frank was removed from his seat after discovering he did not live in the district he was elected to represent. The residents now say they are in danger of being represented by officials they did not have the opportunity to elect.
Utah County Republican delegates will hold an election to fill the vacancy on Saturday January 29. Lawmakers have not yet taken up a bill that would modify the district boundary, as well as open the door for Frank to be reinstated.
