(KCPW News) The execution of Troy Davis in Georgia has people across the nation riled up about the state of American justice. And here in Utah, the recent exoneration of two people who spent several years in prison has shined a spotlight on our state’s justice system.
Today, we talked with the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center, a local nonprofit that helps those who have been wrongfully convicted in Utah, Nevada and Wyoming. We were joined by Executive Director Katie Monroe and board member Alan Sullivan. We also spoke with Debra Brown, who, with RMIC’s help, was recently exonerated of a murder conviction after spending 17 years in prison.
Later in the program, we spoke with Salt Lake County Council members Arlyn Bradshaw and David Wilde about the county’s $17 million budget shortfall and their concerns about the legislative redistricting process.
