(KCPW News) Monday marks the start of the 2012 session of the Utah Legislature. So far, it seems all sides agree that education funding should be the state’s top priority – but exactly how to fund education could prove to be a contentious issue, alongside immigration and whether to repeal Utah’s guest worker law, HB 116. We were joined by Speaker of the House Rebecca Lockhart and Democratic Senator Pat Jones to discuss what’s in store for the next seven weeks.
And Retired U.S. Army Major General Peter S. Cooke is expected to become the first Democrat to run for governor this year, challenging incumbent Gary Herbert. We talked with Cooke about his experience in the military and the business world, and what ideas he’d bring to the race.
