Jail Gardening Program Finds Success at Downtown Farmers Market

(KCPW News) Each summer, Salt Lake City’s Pioneer Park is filled with dozens of farmers, bakers and artists selling their goods at the Downtown Farmers Market. This summer, one group of growers is new to the trade. That’s because they’re inmates, participating in the Salt Lake County Jail’s gardening program. KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports on what it has to offer.

I bought some snapdragons and asters from them this last weekend. I asked them if I could donate some seeds that we didn’t end up using. They said that would be ok and gave me some information on where to go to drop them off. I think it’s great what they are doing with this program. They grew some great looking produce and flowers too!
