Today on the show, Salt Lake City Council Chair Soren Simonsen talked about his bid for Congress, running against incumbent Jason Chaffetz, while Democratic Representative Janice Fisher of West Valley City discussed her time in the Utah Legislature as she runs for re-election.

(KCPW News) While the airwaves have been saturated with political ads in the race for Congressional District 4 between incumbent Jim Matheson and Mia Love, the District 3 election hasn’t seen nearly as much action. That’s where Salt Lake City Council Chair Soren Simonsen is taking on Republican incumbent Jason Chaffetz as the Democratic nominee. An architect by trade, Simonsen is focusing on issues like the environment and ethics. He joined us to talk about campaigning for Congress.

Then, Democratic State Representative Janice Fisher of West Valley City is campaigning against a Republican incumbent, Fred Cox, after the two were lumped into the same House district for this election. The lawmaker has done a lot to bring attention to conflicts of interest on the Utah Transit Authority board, and also worked on mobile home-owners’ rights. She joined us to discuss her legislative career and her re-election battle.
