Both Sides of the Aisle

COVID-19 deaths in 2021, the threat of climate change and how Utah compares to the U.S.

Play

Both Sides of the Aisle – Natalie Gochnour is joined on The Right by Sen. Dan McCay, R-Riverton, and on The Left by Shireen Ghorbani, former Salt Lake County Council member. They discuss the rising COVID-19 death toll in 2021, the health threat of climate change, what Utah is doing to address a changing climate and Utah Sen. Cullimore’s bill to cut state emissions. They also discuss the cost of Utah’s uninsured children, Utah’s small wealth gap, rising homicide rates, a national survey measuring the helpfulness of government and President Biden’s approval ratings.

Correction: The hosts were provided with outdated information regarding Utah’s ranking on the Gini index of income inequality. While in 2019, Utah was reported as being in the first place spot on the scale, it is unclear where Utah currently falls on that ranking.
