I’m with Dan on this one, both from an inflation and incentive standpoint. It doesn’t make sense to me to talk about an upside of spending a lot all at once (that leads to direct inflation) also being a deterrent to inflation.
But more importantly, I disagree with Shireen on how proper incentive structures ‘fall flat on real world examples’. If the cost of living or features of a community are directly tied to the reality around them, people will make decisions accordingly and be more secure. However if a community is running off the assumption that a bigger entity or government subsidy will keep things going, you create a dependency and a problem, even though it might look like ‘helping’ in the moment.
