I’d believe Natalie doesn’t like using politicized words more if she didn’t do things like refer to Jan 6th as an “insurrection”. Were there rioters and crazy people? Definitely. Feel free to call it a riot, but to label it an “insurrection” is a politicized stretch.
Definition seems accurate: Insurrection – a violent uprising against an authority or government
The definition fits, but I haven’t heard other similarly violent events (such as the 2020 riots) called inspections. Portland especially had several violent lawless zones and direct continuations at the federal courthouse, yet none of these have been called insurrections.
If the only thing differentiating the Jan 6 riot with other riots is the political affiliation, then “insurrection” seems to be the definition of politicized speech.
