For the second day running, the Utah Department of Health reports the state’s highest single-day jump in coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, and medical professionals warn that the worst is yet to come. As a result of the COVID-19 surge, the Sundance Film Festival cancels all in-person screenings.

Utah’s newest city, Erda, is allowed to incorporate — but only after a long saga involving lawsuits, delays and behind-the-scenes political machinations.

At 9 a.m. on Friday, Salt Lake Tribune reporter Leia Larsen, culture editor Sean P. Means and news columnist Robert Gehrke join KCPW’s Roger McDonough to talk about the week’s top stories.

Every Friday at 9 a.m., stream “Behind the Headlines” at kcpw.org, or tune in to KCPW 88.3 FM or Utah Public Radio for the broadcast. Join the live conversation by calling 801-355-TALK.
