“Stop the presses” is a phrase from the heyday of newspaper journalism that referred to a temporary pause on printing for a big, breaking story. The phrase is taking on a more permanent meaning this week after Utah’s two oldest and largest daily newspapers announced they’ll move to a weekly format in 2021.
