The Community Calendar also has a physical home. Following the criteria listed below, mail or bring professional materials (no handwritten signs please) promoting your event to the KCPW studios at 210 East 400 South, Suite 10, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. • The event cannot promote a religious organization or individual.

If your event meets these criteria, click “Post Your Event” below. Include your contact information in case we have any questions. Otherwise, your event may not get published.

We encourage you to make the most of your post by adding a featured image and links to your organization.  Utilize the provided field boxes (i.e. location, ticket information) to display information as accurately and quickly as possible.

Please do not submit duplicate postings for the same event. If you are posting a class or workshop that requires registration, list just the first instance in the date and time, and include the details for subsequent classes in the description.

NOTE:  approved events are typically posted to the Community Calendar within seven days of your submission.

Please submit requests at least 14 days before your event – listings read on-air are chosen at random, the week of the event.

"Squaring the Circle (The Story of HIpgnosis)" a Free Film Screening & Post Discussion @ The City Library

Calling all music lovers to come and join the Utah Film Center on Wednesday, June 14 at 7 pm at The City Library in Downtown Salt Lake for a free film screening of Squaring the Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis).

Presented as part of the Utah Film Center’s Through the Lens Series and in partnership with KUER’s Radiowest, Squaring the Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis) is a documentary that takes you behind the scenes of the duo who created some of the most recognizable album covers in history like Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here.

Hipgnosis went from making covers for their mates (the likes of David Gilmour and Syd Barrett) to establishing themselves as the driving force behind visual identities of some of the most popular artists of the 1970s (think Led Zeppelin and Paul McCartney). Their methods were unconventional, their budgets often unreasonable, but they were fearless visionaries who artfully manipulated photographic images long before computer graphics became ubiquitous.

After the screening will be a Q&A moderated by KUER’s RadioWest host, Doug Fabrizio with producers Trish D. Chetty and Ged Doherty and local artist Jann Haworth, co-creator of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover.

Little Richard: I Am Everything

Like a quasar burning past the gaslight, director Lisa Cortés’ eye-opening documentary explodes the whitewashed canon of American pop music. Little Richard: I Am Everything shines a clarifying light on the Black, queer origins of rock ’n’ roll, and establishes the genre’s big bang: Richard Wayne Penniman. Testimonials from legendary musicians and cultural figures, Black and queer scholars, Penniman’s family and friends, and interviews with the artist himself all exuberantly reclaim a history that was willfully appropriated by white artists and institutions.

You can find more information about the film screening and movie trailer at: https://utahfilmcenter.org/event/little-richard-i-am-everything/

– Doors open at 8 pm
– Movies begin at dusk

Outdoor Film Series takes place on the east side of Liberty Park, just north of the Chase Home Museum near the middle of the park.

Utah Film Center's Through the Lens presents "Users" a Free Film Screening & Discussion @ The City Library

Join Utah Film Center on Wednesday, July 12th at 7:00 pm at The City Library in Downtown Salt Lake for a free film screening of Sundance film winner, “Users”.

“Users” begins with a mother questioning – will my children love the perfect machines more than they love me, their imperfect mother? She pushes the button and a smart crib lulls her crying baby to sleep, flawlessly every time. This question guides her inquiry into the intimate relationship we have with technology that is increasingly driving all aspects of our society.

“Users” traverse places ranging from the largest indoor vertical farm in the world to the perfect artificial wave, from an IVF embryo lab to a fiber optic cable landing. The invisible infrastructure that we all rely on is made visible. Our reliance on machines and our alienation from each other is palatable. Urgent global issues like climate change and privacy are explored from the intimate perspective of a mother thinking, worrying and loving her children.

After the screening will be a Q&A moderated by KUER’s RadioWest host, Doug Fabrizio with film director Natalia Almada.
