Our Community Calendar is a volunteer-run resource offered to all qualified nonprofits. Community Calendar events are highlighted live, on-air throughout the day on KCPW. Featured events are chosen at random. You will also find all current Community Calendar events listed here at kcpw.org.
The Community Calendar also has a physical home. Following the criteria listed below, mail or bring professional materials (no handwritten signs please) promoting your event to the KCPW studios at 210 East 400 South, Suite 10, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. We’ll happily hang them in our window for all Library Square traffic to see.
To submit an event to the Community Calendar, the event must meet the following criteria:
- The event must take place in Utah.
- The organization promoting the event must be a qualified 501(c)(3) charity or political subdivision.
- The event cannot promote a religious organization or individual.
If your event meets these criteria, click “Post Your Event” below. Include your contact information in case we have any questions. Otherwise, your event may not get published.
We encourage you to make the most of your post by adding a featured image and links to your organization. Utilize the provided field boxes (i.e. location, ticket information) to display information as accurately and quickly as possible.
Please do not submit duplicate postings for the same event. If you are posting a class or workshop that requires registration, list just the first instance in the date and time, and include the details for subsequent classes in the description.
NOTE: approved events are typically posted to the Community Calendar within seven days of your submission.

The selection of artworks in this exhibition share artist’s observations of the material world through the rarified and varied symbolism of Transmutation; they explore the states of matter, the planes of existence, the process of early scientific exploration, and other paths of Transformation.

Caroline Shaw is one of the leading new voices in composition and the youngest winner of the Pulitzer Prize for her “Partita for 8 Voices.” She will be in residence at Westminster with Grammy award winning cellist from Attacca Quartet, Andrew Yee. Both Shaw and Yee will perform on this not-to-be missed concert, featuring Shaw’s inventive take on baroque inspired forms alongside the vibrant works of Barbara Strozzi and Antonio Vivaldi. Join this conversation with experts Dr. Sonia Salari and Dr. Annie Isabel Fukushima to learn more about the history of policies enacted in Utah and the nation. As part of our Black, Bold & Brilliant series, Utah Film Center, in partnership with KRCL is excited to announce our upcoming film screening and post-discussion of BEBA. Join us Wednesday, March 1st from 7-9 pm at The City Library in Downtown Salt Lake City in watching first-time feature filmmaker Rebecca “Beba” Huntt undertake an unflinching exploration of her own identity in the remarkable coming-of-age documentary/cinematic memoir BEBA.
Reflecting on her childhood and adolescence in New York City as the daughter of a Dominican father and Venezuelan mother, Huntt investigates the historical, societal, and generational trauma she’s inherited and ponders how those ancient wounds have shaped her, while simultaneously considering the universal truths that connect us all as humans. Throughout BEBA, Huntt searches for a way to forge her own creative path amid a landscape of intense racial and political unrest. Poetic, powerful and profound, BEBA is a courageous, deeply human self-portrait of an Afro-Latina artist hungry for knowledge and yearning for connection.

Britt Wray is a Human and Planetary Health Postdoctoral Fellow at the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health, Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Her research focuses on the mental health impacts of climate change on young people and frontline community members. Dr. Wray has a PhD in Science Communication from the University of Copenhagen and is a journalist, speaker, and author of two books: Generation Dread: Finding Purpose in the Climate Crisis and Rise of the Necrofauna: The Science, Ethics and Risks of De-Extinction.
Launched in Fall 2020, the Author Meets Readers series connects humanities scholars or writers and their research with lifelong readers and learners. Individual sessions run for one hour, are facilitated by the Tanner Humanities Center Director or campus and community experts, and feature insights into the research and writing process, the impact of humanities scholarship on culture and society, and an audience discussion.
Oceanic languages describe the progression of life as a journey into the future that we undertake while facing the past. As modern Pacific Islanders, the achievements and lessons of ancestors remain clearly in front of us – guiding, inspiring, and provoking – as we walk into the future. This community exhibition juxtaposes “traditional” cultural items and themes with “modern” expressions and interpretations by Utah Pacific Islanders that show how the past informs and inspires the present and future.

The STEM Community Alliance Program (STEMCAP) is a collaborative effort between the University of Utah and the Utah State Board of Education. The program, founded in 2016, provides STEM enrichment opportunities to Youth-In-Custody. On average, 126 youth are detained in juvenile detention centers or long-term secure care facilities on any given day in Utah. An additional 128 youths receive early intervention services daily. In 2021, 5,871 youths were served. The majority of the student artists in this show reside at Salt Lake Valley Youth Center in either the detention or the residential programs, though several students commute for the Day Skills Intervention Program. STEMCAP is proud to present the artwork of these students. YIC students worked with STEMCAP to think creatively about water as a unifying element; a finite resource that connects all living things. Students considered the water issues here in Utah and how waterways affect whole communities. STEMCAP workshops focusing on drought, climate change, pollution and the drying of the Great Salt Lake informed their artwork. This exhibition consists of a collectively tie-dyed cloth shaped like the Jordan River, and individual self-portraits that express aspects of each student’s identity and their connection to water.

In this mixed media Collaged Painting Workshop, you will learn techniques for creating a colorful, abstract painted canvas to use as a textured background for exploring the collage medium. In this New Americans Workshop, Raida Jarjes, an Iraqi artist, poet, and community organizer will walk you through the step by step process for creating a fun mixed media piece utilizing a vast array of collage materials including stickers, magazines, and more. All materials will be provided, but Raida encourages you to bring keepsake photos or other mementos you’d like to incorporate into your collaged painting! During the instructional session, Raida will share stories about her cultural ties to this art form & details about her growth experiences as a maker. Beginners welcome and all supplies provided for this workshop.
