Summer Outdoor Film Series at Liberty Park presented by Utah Film Center @ Liberty Park | | |

As summer brings us those long sunshine-filled days, Utah Film Center is excited to announce the return of its Free Summer Outdoor Film Series at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. Pull out your favorite blanket, grab those delicious treats, and enjoy the long-awaited soft warm breezes of a perfect Utah summer night.

Each week will take you on an epic journey — riding whitewater in the world’s deepest canyon, helping a fearless shell look for its home, swooning over comic book nerds looking for love, and taking risks with a big-hearted Australian environmentalist who has even bigger fishy friends. We’ll also be exploring the magic of cinema with legendary rock and soul icons, two volcanologists, and a breakdance crew that is hotter than a St. George day in August.

Friday, July 7th @ 8 pm
Amazing Grace

Film Synopsis:
A behind-the-scenes documentary about the recording of Aretha Franklin’s best-selling album finally sees the light of day more than four decades after the original footage was shot.

In January of 1972 Aretha Franklin performed with the choir at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles, recording what would become her live best-selling gospel album “Amazing Grace.”

In attendance were Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones as well as members of Franklin’s family and the local congregation and community who worship alongside her.
