A Congressional subcommittee heard testimony last week about the Scott Gardner Act, named for a North Carolina man who was killed by an undocumented drunk driver. The bill would tighten how the feds deal with undocumented DUI drivers, but it would also allow local police to detain suspects and turn them over to federal custody. On Monday, Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank joins us to argue why this presents problems for local law enforcement.

The brutality and controversy led many to keep quiet about their wartime experiences for nearly 40 years. But now some Utah vets are opening up and sharing their harrowing and poignant memories. These stories are captured in a new documentary and on Monday, we talk with the filmmakers behind KUED’s “Utah Vietnam War Stories.”
