Republican delegates proved they love Mia Love on Saturday. The Saratoga Springs mayor walked away with 70 percent of the vote in the final round of voting at Saturday’s state Republican convention, defeating former state representative Carl Wimmer for the 4th Congressional District nomination.
“Well there were a wide variety of voters out there, all the way from tea party to moderate republican and I put them all under one umbrella. We are all united in the race in terms of what we have to accomplish and that is working on our economy, that’s eliminating the debt and deficit, everybody cares about the same thing and too many times the party’s too fractured,” said Love.
Love will now face six-term Democratic Congressman Jim Matheson in November. If elected, she would be the only black Republican woman in Congress.
