Dr. Safi specializes in contemporary Islamic thought and Islamic spirituality. During this hour he speaks about the past, national, and international relationship between the United States and Muslim and non-white peoples in America. He describes recent trends to illustrate growing Islamophobia, seen on the fringes of the Internet to even the national presidential election. Dr. Safi is the Chair for the Islamic mysticism group at the American Academy of Religion, the largest international organization devoted to academic study of religion.
